What are the chances of surviving untreated liver cancer?

Posted on Mar 28, 2010 under Liver cancer | 10 Comments

My uncle has just been diagnosed with cancer in his liver. The doctors said that it’s too late to operate, and he doesn’t want chemotherapy because it would only let him live an extra couple of months. The doctors said he probably has a year to live. Will my uncle die for sure, or is there a slight chance that he will survive?

could i have liver cancer or some other problem?

first of all, this is NOT A JOKE -_- i ask questions here because i can’t ask elsewhere, so please answer if you know the answer, if you don’t .. don’t answer, thanks

i’m 17, and yesss i drink a lottt of alcohol. for the past 3 years, i drink on the weekends. i go out and party with my friends. most teenagers do it. i drink a lot, i have like 6 or 7 cups of hard liquor, usually mixed, or a couple of beers. i’ve gotten alcohol poisoning once, the first time i drank, 3 years ago. i didn’t know how much i could handle, now i do.

so anyways, i got my blood test results back and everything is normal except for my ALKALINE POSPHATASE, which is 35 (LOW) the normal range is 47-176

and my TRIGLYERCERIDES, which is 32 (LOW) the normal range is 40-136

i googled them up and they both come up as something about the liver, but it’s honestly very confusing for me to understand

i wanna know if i should be scared or not. it’s the weekend, so i am planning on drinking today.

(and please don’t tell me not to drink… i’m a teenager)

kidney cancer spread to liver?

Posted on Mar 22, 2010 under Liver cancer | 2 Comments

Hi my mum had stage 3 kidney cancer in 2008 and had her right kidney removed, in March 09 they found a spot her liver and told us the cancer had spread there, at the end of august 2009 she had Radio frequency ablation (RFA) to the area and they took a biopsy which confirmed it was kidney cancer which had spread, her ct scan on the 6th oct 2009 was clear.

now she has just had her latest ct scan and again it shows another spot has appeared on the liver which they are pretty sure again in another secondary.

what I want to know is this looking a bad sign that it has only took 6 months this time for another secondary to show up, where as last time it took 18 months for the first secondary to show after the primary.

i’m 29 yrs old and already lost my dad to cancer
Hope this all makes sense.

so I had pain in upper right part, they did US of abdomen/tyroid, seen a area of about 4cm on liver, US said unkown eitilogy, followed up with a CT, doc called said its a fatty liver after ct RESULTS came back but ordered a follow up in 3 months, did a followup US, they said its stable and likely fatty liver, doc suggested one more after 18 months and just got that done, are still remain 4.5cm with no new mass/lesions, however US says the area is LESS CONSPICUOUS this time, he said no more follow ups, pain happens still when eat something greasy/oily,
do you guys think that a normal protocol of something like that?

PS: very high cheost/high blood pressure, no other know diseases

im 17 and a boy in high school.
i miss her very much as she was my buddy that i could tell everything to. i come home from school to a quiet house. instead of hearing "how was ur day" or seomthign like that its nothing…just dust gathering up on tables and furniture and a big empty house. My dad is horrible, i am ashamed to call him my father and embarrassed to call him my father. he isn’t even a father, hes a scum bag criminal…and a bad person, unlike me. But anyways, i kind of have no parents…and its not all that fun having "no rules"….it sucks. i want my old life back. i want to be grounded and i want to have a family to ask me how my day has been or anything.

so…what do i do? just wait anxiously for college and hope to make tons of friends and start a family of my own one day?….because thats the only possible solution i can think of. should i just forget my family?…

and i have 2 sisters. one is at college and i barely see her. the other is in high school and a very bad kid, and i mean bad as in (drugs, emo, stupid, etc.)….im the only good kid..make all a’s, going to a prestigous college, etc….im just sick of this nonsense stupid family. i wish i had a good, healthy, responsible, loving, smart, honest, clean family.

anyways. i miss my mom. hardly have a father….$&%$! im borrred as hell now what do i do?

What is a realistic prognosis for stage 3 primary liver cancer?

Posted on Mar 08, 2010 under Liver cancer | 3 Comments

My brother, age 50, has advanced hepatitis C and liver cirrhosis. He has now been diagnosed with stage 3 primary liver cancer. Surgery is not an option. His abdominal cavity continues to fill with fluid which is removed about twice a week. What is a realistic life expectancy? I posted this question two days ago. My brother tells me that he is now jaundiced.
