Worried That These Symptoms Indicate A Brain Tumor?
Posted on Jul 14, 2010 under Brain Tumors |So, yesterday I had a really tiring day as I did quite a heavy sport for a couple of hours, I am not used to doing this much exercise. When I returned home I had a very sharp headache pain behind each located near the temple, although the left side was causing more pain. It lessened slightly and when I woke up this morning the pain had gone almost completely except a slight pain in my left side. I have since the night before been very tired, I am quite worried these symptoms mean a brain tumor, although as it has been very hot lately and I have not been drinking much water it could be this. I am a teenager by the way.

You would need to be experiencing seizures and fits in conjunction with headaches.

I would not jump at that conclusion quite yet. It sounds like you may have over worked yourself, you also may be dehydrated. That would fit your being tired and the headache.
Signs and symptoms of Dehydration are: Thirst, Loss of Appetite, Dry Skin, Skin Flushing, Dark Colored Urine, Dry Mouth, fatigue or Weakness, Chills, Headaches.
If the dehydration is ignored and fluid is not replenished then more symptoms develop. These symptoms are:
* Increased heart rate
* Increased respiration
* Decreased sweating
* Decreased urination
* Increased body temperature
* Extreme fatigue
* Muscle cramps
* Migraine "Bad Headache"
* Nausea
* Tingling of the limbs
Now as for a brain tumor, you did not explain any sign or symptom that would make me believe you may have a tumor. These are some symptoms that would indicate a possible tumor. Keep in mind that just because you have one symptom out of 10 does not mean that you have a brain tumor.
General signs and symptoms caused by brain tumors may include:
* New onset or change in pattern of headaches
* Headaches that gradually become more frequent and more severe
* Unexplained nausea or vomiting
* Vision problems, such as blurred vision, double vision or loss of peripheral vision
* Gradual loss of sensation or movement in an arm or a leg
* Difficulty with balance
* Speech difficulties
* Confusion in everyday matters
* Personality or behavior changes
* Seizures, especially in someone who doesn’t have a history of seizures
* Hearing problems
Now, I cannot diagnose anything over the internet. If you are worried that there is something wrong with you, you should ask a parent to make a doctors appointment for you. He can physically examine you and if needed order CT and MRI scans of your head to see for sure whether or not you may have a brain tumor.
From what you have typed it is my clinical opinion that you do NOT have a brain tumor. You have described signs and symptoms of Dehydration from playing sport outside in the heat and not drinking plenty of fluids. Remember that when you are in the heat and sweating, you are losing fluid out of your body. You need to replenish those fluids with water or drinks like Gatorade or Powerade. Stay away from Cokes, Dr. Peppers, and any other drink with carbonation or caffeine.
