Could I have a brain tumor (honest answers)?
Posted on Jul 14, 2010 under Brain Tumors |Hi. I’m 17 years old. And, I’ve been having a lot of symptoms related to a brain tumor. Here are my symptoms: - frequent migraines - dizziness - lightheadedness - tingling in hands/fingers - mood swings (i can go from happy to depressed in like 5 minutes) - frequent nausea - double vision (i went to the eye doctor, and he didn’t see anything wrong with my eyes) - i forget things very easy - sometimes when i stand up, i’ll get a lot of pressure on my head, and everything goes black like i’m going to pass out. but, then i’m fine like 10 seconds later. I know that you’re not doctors. But, i need honest opinions and answers. And, truthfully, this started about 2 years ago and has progressively gotten worse. I’m just too scared to say anything to my parents cuz they will say i’m just stressed and asking for attention. I just want to be healthy, and not die. And, don’t say I’m pregnant either cuz I’m a virgin. So, honest answers please?

tell you parents your symptoms and tell them how long its been going on and ask if you can see a doctor.if they don’t believe you ask another adult

It could just be low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar, I used to have vertigo when I was younger and all of these things happened. I’d go get it checked out just in case.

I suffer from severe migraines. My neurologist calls them very complicated. I have all the symptoms you are having. I had a brother die from brain cancer and my sister had brain cancer twice. Neither one had those experiences except the horrible headaches. The MRI will show brain tumors and you really need to see a Neurologist. I pray you don’t have brain cancer and it can happen at your age but it really sounds like me having complicated migraines. I hope I’m right. You have to tell your parents and don’t wait OK. My sister survived brain cancer twice and has it again but the doctors are very hopeful. I’m hopeful for you. And I’m being honest. God bless you and be well.
ADD Thanks April. She was diagnosed AGAIN last week not with just brain cancer, but lung cancer as well. She never smoked a day in her life either. Hope you’re doing well too.

You need to go to the doctor and have this checked out. If you don’t want to ask your parents go by yourself. It’s important. You should ask your doctor for an MRI. It does sound like a brain tumor. Another thing it sounds like is Chiari Malformation 1. You should look that up and see if you think you might have that. Again the only way to tell is with an MRI. I wish the best. I’m currently being evaluated for Chiari and everything points to it so I know what your going through with the headaches and everything.

I was dx with brain cancer almost 2 years ago. I didn’t really have any of those symptoms. I had ONE migraine 2 days before my ONE seizure. Truthfully, most brain tumors are diagnosed because of a seizure. Much of what you described actually happened to me on a regular basis when I in high school, no migraines though. I would get out of the shower when getting ready for school and get really dizzy and clammy. I would see black and get really nauseous. I would have to lay down wherever I was, which was usually on the bathroom floor. I’d lay there till it passed and then get up and get ready for school and go on about my day. Mine was low blood sugar. It was quite infrequent for years after that time, but eating something usually solved the problem. Now just a couple of my symptoms caused by my brain tumor were, shimmers in my vision, once in a while, funny feeling in the pit of my stomach, like something was gonna happen. That was my aura. Strange throb down one arm, sometimes. Decreased peripheral vision on side opposite my tumor. The week prior to having my seizure, I felt I was getting the flu, and others thought I was getting sick too, but they saw how distracted I seemed also. I went shopping and just couldn’t seem to remember what I was paying with or find it when my daughter told me what to look for in my purse. I was totally out of it, but thought it was just from my cold medicine I had taken. Other than that, I went on about my usual life for over 2 years prior to my seizure…

Okay, you are not healthy right now and the only way to get healthy is to see a doctor. You need to stop trying to diagnose yourself and talk to your parents. Your symptoms could indicate a number of things (except for the mood swings, which are typical teenage behavior) and only a doctor can diagnose you.
