What are the chances that a 27 year old cancer survivor would get a brain aneurysm?

Posted on Mar 09, 2010 under cancer news and reports |

I had cancer, but I’m better now. I keep getting these headaches. I have for years, even before the cancer. I had a scan about 2 years ago and they said it was nothing but migraines. But I keep having the headaches. My boyfriend wants me to get checked out again, but I think it’s pointless. I also think that it’s fairly impossible for me to have an aneurysm or brain tumor since I already had cancer. The percentage of 27 year olds who had both cancer and an aneuyysm must be amazingly small. I want to confront him with the stats. ;)

I have no idea, but I might have an idea of why you get the headaches, possibly.

Hormones can cause migraines, I don’t know the type of cancer treatment you had but if it changed anything hormonal than this could cause it. Even if you didn’t get treatment that would change things hormonally, the stress alone could give you a migraine too.

    Don’t worry :)

Migraines can last a life time. My heart goes out to you. Find a doctor for a second oppinion. One who will really listen and help you find optimal health.
It is wonderful you have such a supportive and caring bf. You must be very special to him.
    Take care.

Doubtful that it is a brain aneurysm because you would know by now . . but you need to be 100 percent sure that it is not a cancer relapse. You need to return to your doctor because as a cancer survivor it is possible that mets have migrated to your brain over time and could be the cause of the headaches.

You do not mention the type of cancer you had or provide any other information, but a persistent headache should be routinely looked at in the case of metastatic disease. Cancer can lay dormant in the body and if it has metastasized it will usually go to the lungs, liver, or brain. A two year old scan will not tell you what is happening today. Scans are only good for the day they are taken. Have another scan and than the doctors can make a comparison about what your brain was like two years ago compared to today. Good luck.

See a neurologist and request an mri again. Always trust your gut. At 20 I didn’t think I could have brain cancer let alone grade 4 and it happened. Better safe than sorry. I went on for a year blaming an iud and hormoans for my migraines until I seized at work and had an mri.

There is a man that works in the office next to me that had a brain aneruysm at age 24.
