I remember seeing Alan Alda cover this product in an episode of PBS’s "Scientific American Frontiers"….it was some kind of vitamin or supplement in pill form…it was in a white bottle and it was called Pros something or p=something or hell I cannot remember…but I remember after seeing this episode on PBS telling myslelf that if myself or my father ever got cancer there I would want to remember this product…now one of my fathers friends..best friend…has advanced prostate cancer and I am afraid he is going to die…he did not catch it soon enough and I am very sad..I wanted to tell dad about these pills at the health food store so that he can pass the word along to his friend…so he can try it along with everything the doctors are doing to try to help him live…
Please if you know the name of the pseudo drug I would like to know….worst case is it doesnt help and the friend will waste a few bucks for no help…please advise as I fear this is my first life or death post..possibly
Not that I am sure this product/thing will work…but what could it hurt…and I do remember it being one of the only "Alternative" medicines in the whole program that showed promise.
I imagine someone out there has seen this show and remembers the name of that prostrate supplement.
Thank you in advance,
Perry in FL

Ive had my guinea pig since a baby and have had him nearly 18 months. About a year ago he developed a little lump near to his left hip, which when i first notice it was about 4mm in diameter. it didnt appear to bother him or get any bigger. so i just left it and kept an eye on him, about 6 months ago it grew quite quickly and is now about the side of a 10 pence peice in diameter and sticks out considerabley. it is solid to touch but slightly squashy, and still dont bother him if unless you fidle with it alot. i took him to the vets but they didnt seem concerned at all, and just sent me home.
He is naturally quite an opinionated and vocal guinea pig, and was an absolute loon, but now in the last 2 months or so he has become quite dosile, and very grumpy. he no longer likes being picked up and can bite if you touch his underside or legs, which is very out of character for him. he still liked to be stroked and likes attention, so long as you dont pick him up. when i do have him on my lap he will lay down and talk to me, but rather than being a content gentle noise when i stroke him, its much louder and as though he is uncomfortable.
the vets i have taken him to dont seem fussed, but i know he is not right and is not entirely conformable.
he gets lots of fresh veg and he has pellet hard food (called woodlands guinea pig food and forage - which he loves) and good quality hay, which i always ensure is dust free.
i am concerned that he could be riddled with mets if he has got a form of cancer, as this can caused generalised all over pain, but seeing as the vet was unconcerned, im now not sure what to do.

My daughter is fighting cancer and her fiance’ infected her with Herpes. He is now her ex-fiance’. He admitted to her that he had cheated on her. Knowing that infections are very dangerous to people receiving cancer treatment, is this not attempted murder ?
Clarifying what I said: Any added infection can complicate and cause possible death in cancer patients. I know this from fact. Not that Herpes in itself kills. Sorry for the confusion. She is having stem cell transplants soon with ICE chemo she will have ZERO immunity for about 3 weeks.

My sister and I are getting worried about my mom. She lives almost 300 miles away on the other side of the state and we haven’t talked to her in almost 3 weeks . We’ve both called and emailed her at work with no response. We don’t want her to think we’re spying on her or anything but we can’t help but worry. She’s been battling cancer for over 12 years and is still working full time with chemo on Thursday afternoons for metastatic breast cancer in her liver. She usually doesn’t feel too good for a couple days after so she calls us on the weekends. She waits until the last minute to tell us anything that is wrong with her even though we are grown with our own families. I know she doesn’t want us to worry about her but how can we not? She is a very strong woman and has never let the cancer bring her down. Most people don’t even know she is undergoing treatment. On the other hand, not to sound cold hearted, she knows I just got my income tax and is in need of money so I’m extremely surprised she hasn’t called asking for a loan.
We are hitting a brick wall and don’t know what to do. There is no other way to get a hold of her and no one to call me if something did happen. Help?
