Can someone describe the symptoms of a brain tumor?
Posted on Mar 08, 2010 under Brain Tumors |I’m 18 and concerned. I’ve been having constant headaches that feel like my skull’s too small for a few months for a while, including a real stabbing one last night in what seems like the slightly larger side of my head. I’ve had a somewhat reduced appetite recently. My coordination and balance are a little poor: haven’t fallen down for no reason yet but I feel wobbly. I’ve been experiencing nervous tics. My limbs feel a little numb.
There are alternate explanations for all of these, including the ADHD meds I’m taking, the stress I’ve been feeling, and the contacts I haven’t been wearing. If someone has any special insight on what degree of symptoms I should be looking out for, it would be appreciated.

The signs and symptoms of a brain tumor vary greatly and depend on the brain tumor’s size, location and rate of growth.
General signs and symptoms caused by brain tumors may include:
New onset or change in pattern of headaches
Headaches that gradually become more frequent and more severe
Unexplained nausea or vomiting
Vision problems, such as blurred vision, double vision or loss of peripheral vision
Gradual loss of sensation or movement in an arm or a leg
Difficulty with balance
Speech difficulties
Confusion in everyday matters
Personality or behavior changes
Seizures, especially in someone who doesn’t have a history of seizures
Hearing problems
Hormonal (endocrine) disorders
My cousin died from a brain tumor a few years ago, and before his diagnosis he had lost around 30 pounds, had to hold onto someone while walking, vomited every morning without nausea, and eventually had a seizure. The symptoms are very severe, I don’t know how he wasn’t dx sooner because it was terribly obvious he had something extremely sinister going on.
I’m sure, you don’t have a brain tumor. Ask your Doc about the possible symptoms of your medication and stress can do crazy things to your body. Balance is probably do to the contacts, like you said. Why aren’t you wearing them?
If you’re really worried just sched. an appointment with your doc. and see if he/she can get you into a neuro for a peace of mind.
