Do I have Breast Cancer at 22 years old?

Posted on Feb 28, 2010 under breast cancer |

Hi I’m Misty and I’m 22 years old. My nipples burn so bad and itch but it’s mostly my left breast very rare on the right breast. Also it feels like I have a toothache in my breast. The skin around my nipples are getting scared and I don’t know why. I developed a bump on my left breast about three months ago. It started out very hard and white milky liquid comes out of it. After the bump is flattened it still comes back and white stuff comes out. It has just turned into a red spot and it’s not leaving I’m so scared.
Last night I went to the doctor because I was having an asthma attack and coughing (cold). I received a treatment then a chest x ray. The doctor told me it looked fine but it was one little area he was concerned about. He said it looked like an infection forming like bronchitis. He said that the radiologist would take a look but its non thing to be concerned about. I cry myself to sleep every night. Please Help

I think I answered a similar question from you before.

The chances of breast cancer at 22 are minuscule.

The chances of it occurring in both breasts are even smaller.

Fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with it are under 30, and it’s almost unheard of in under 25s. In fact only 5% of those diagnosed are under 40. Most (80%) are over 50.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was allocated to the breast care nurse whose special interest was ‘breast cancer in younger women’; I was 50.

And what you describe are not symptoms of breast cancer.

You need to see your doctor - both for reassurance that this isn’t cancer and for a diagnosis and treatment
