Posted on Feb 07, 2010 under breast cancer |

I am having the cervical cancer vaccine tomorrow and even though I am kinda okay with needles.. im still really scared! I was wondering how much it hurts on a scale of one to ten. Please dont lie and say its nothing if it is! thank you :).

how much it may hurt is entirely dependent on you. if you relax your arm completely, the needle slides in with little discomfort, can actually slide between relaxed muscle fibers. But if you are tense and the muscles in your arm tight together, the needle has to cut through those fibers to give the vaccine.
relax, maybe 1 or 2 out of 10
    tensed up, 7 to 10
so it’s up to you how much it will or won’t hurt.

It’s a vaccination given in your arm. Its no more painful than any other vaccination you have had in the past. If vaccinations have bothered you in the past than it is likely this will too .. but it has nothing to do medically . . its your own personal reaction. After it is over you will feel foolish for the way you feel and wonder what the big deal was anyway.
