Extremely rare. The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer are between ages 35 and 50. There have been a handful of cases in which patients were diagnosed with breast cancer as young as 9 years-old.
1.3 in every 1 million 15-19 year old girls.
The majority of breast cancers (75%) are found in postmenopausal women.
You do not need a doctor to answer a simple question. For all we know it could be a school question. You do not need to see your mother’s OB/GYN as they specialize in adult women.
How likely? About as likely as getting struck by lightning on your way to collect the winnings from your jackpot winning lottery ticket (and yes, I’ve factored in the fact that you’re too young to buy that ticket).
Seriously, breast cancer is almost unheard of in women under 25, let alone young teens; Denise has given you the figures.
Fewer than 0.1% of all those diagnosed with breast cancer are under 30, and only 5% are under 40. Most (80%) are over 50.
You know, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was allocated to the breast care nurse whose special interest was ‘breast cancer in younger women’; I was 50.
If you’re asking because you’re concerned you have it, talk to your mother; if you don’t feel comfortable doing that, talk to your school nurse. She will be used to girls having worries like this and will be able to reassure you
Anything’s possible in this day and age! Im 17 a few months ago i was diagnosed with pancriatic cancer, a few weeks ago i was given the all clear! Things work extreemly fast now a days and if you have any worries at all you should go to your doctors and speak with someone who can put your mind at rest! No one can assure you more than a doctor and if it is breast cancer the earlier its found the better! Its not very likely you will have cancer at 15 but like i said its better to be safe! x
It is not likely, but possible. It depends on whether it runs in the family. If you’re worried about something like this, then go and talk with your doctor, and see if you can get tests done.

Very rare. I think it starts getting likely from the age of 20+? I don’t know, but 15 sounds way too young.

Always check with your family dr and ask your mom to get a referral for her OBGYN if you are not satisified with your family dr answer.
