Doctors!!!! My sister probably has lymphoma… help!!! Is it really lymphoma?
Posted on Nov 21, 2009 under lymphoma |My sister is only 32 years old. Working as a singer at a bar. With all the cigarettes in her working place, i think maybe that’s why she always has a sore throat. She was told before by a doctor not to talk for a month, rest her throat and gave her antibiotics… But still the sore throat is recurring… on and off..on and off…
Only months ago, she was divorced from her husband, which i think gave her a lot of stress until now…
Then, couple of months ago, she was always passing out, like having a nervous breakdown. She told me, everytime she will pass out she’s experiencing like she will run out of air, she will rush to drink water and then… boom…she will pass out…
I told her that maybe she has a heart ailment, as i remember what i have studied about in college, having frequent soar throat might be associated with heart problem.. She had her self checked up, but then the doctor said her heart is normal and clear…. And so she went to the General Hospital for another check up… then she was advised to have a biopsy in her throat… The doctor wants to check if she has a lymphoma…. I am so afraid…maybe she has it… I am so sad she has a little daughter…and she’s now a single parent… works alone for her daughter… Do you think it really is lymphoma or just plain stress and maybe some immunity problems? Please help!!!

my first opinion is she need psychiatric evaluation, then only consider malignancy, not lymphoma but other malignancies, but before everything do a complete haemogramme including T3, T4 and TSH…OK?

Sore throat can be caused by many things. What other symptoms does she have? Lymphoma usually causes many other symptoms… The symptoms you are describing sound like shes anxious, and maybe having panic attacks… Does she have night sweats? Does her skin itch? Does she have a lump in her throat? Fever? Rash? Fatigue? If you answer NO to most of these then she probably does not have Lymphoma. But thats just my opinion…

She doesn’t have a single symptom of lymphoma so I don’t know why the doctor would want to check for that. Doctors don’t usually look for a specific disease they let the tests tell them what needs to be done.
