It's tough to learn a loved one has cancer and my thoughts go out to you. Excessive drinking drinking is only one contributing cause of liver disease and no one knows for sure what exactly causes cancer. There are several treatments for liver cancer including radiation, chemotherapy and surgery to remove the cancerous part of the liver if that's viable. It is NOT a sentence of death and with good treatment your grandpa may have many, many more years to be around loving you. Best wishes to both you and your grandpa!

In 2001 my UNcle was diasgnosed for the 2 time with throat cancer( after recovery the 1st time). Its very hard to know uure loved one has cancer. Cancer can be cured and depended on what stage its in depends on the chances. but i would suggest i spend the most timme u possibly can with him and tell him all u need to while u have the chance i didnt get the chance and i really regret it good luck to u and ure Grandpa. ill pray for him

Most liver cancers are secondary or metastatic, meaning the malignancy originated elsewhere in the body — usually the colon, lung or breast. Primary liver cancer, which starts in the liver, accounts for about two percent of cancers in the United States but up to half of all cancers in some undeveloped countries. This is mainly because of the prevalence of hepatitis, caused by contagious viruses, that predisposes a person to liver cancer.
Although there are no definite cures for cancer the following are some ways in which liver cancer can be prevented.
If there is a risk of exposure to hepatitis, get immunized against hepatitis B. Before taking iron supplements, check with a doctor to make sure whether they are really needed. Do not use anabolic steroids unless medically necessary. Eat more vegetables and fruits, less fat and red meat. Keep greater variety in diet, less monotony.Eat more cereals and whole grains, less processed sugar. Have more natural food colors, fewer artificial colors. Use more herbal spices, fewer artificial flavorings.Eat more natural, whole foods, fewer processed foods. Have more fruit and vegetable juices, fewer alcoholic beverages.Breathe in more fresh air, less smoke- and pollution-filled air. Live in more tranquility, less stress.
Some herbal supplements might play an important role in this regard.
