I know probably a few people have mentioned this but in the UK, the age to have a smear test changed to 25+ in 2003. I'm 18 and think this law is a very stupid idea! There have been a few cases found that some women are under the age of 25 when they die of the cancer. Should they not offer this smear test to girls who are sexually active? I had a baby 5 months ago and whilst i was pregnant my midwife asked me if iv'e had a smear test before? I answered no obviously and she advised after having the baby to have one done, knowing full well i was 18 at the time.
So.. I went to see the doctor, asked for a smear test and she said an out-right NO! How is this fair? I'm worried for crists sakes, whould they not even check to see if i'm okay?
I'm very dissapointed in my own country at the moment. Every other country offers smear tests to under 25 year olds. What do i do? Everywhere i go they will just turn me down. Now and again i have been getting pains after sex and have irregular periods.
I have had a baby and been having sex since the age of 15, i'm at higher risk so should i not be a perfect candidate?
What shall i do. Plus, how long do you reckon people are going to start lying about symptoms just to get a smear test done. I'm seriously thinking about it. Are us teens and young mums and girls who have had sex have the right to know whats going on in our bodies and whether or not we have the chance to live or know if we are going to die?
Thanks for your thoughts x

She is getting Radiation, is that dangerous? Whats the difference between Keomo and Radiation? She has had two surgery's so far; and the doctors said that she doesn't need anymore. Is she going to be okay? How long is she going to live? Please answer as soon as possible, thank you.

If my breast cancer is going to be incurable if it returns again for the second time, even if i do go to all of my follow up appointments, then don't you think that it would be useless for me to continue go to all of my follow-up appointments then in that case?
I ask this question because i had triple negative breast cancer and my doctor has informed me that if the cancer returns again that there is not going to be anything she can do for me. She says that i will die if it returns again. She says that coming to my follow up appointments won't really help much to catch the cancer if it does return again. But she says that it may help a little. I've decided since she has said this to not go to anymore of my follow-up appointments anymore.
When the cancer does return again (which i know it will) i will not be taking chemo or radiation again because i can clearly see that it does not work. If it did then 90% of people would not have recurrences.
Knittinmama what did you do send me that link to scare me even more than what i am already scared?

My friend just revealed to me that she thinks she has had breast cancer since age 12.
She said it started with a lump in her left breast, the lump she says, has gotten bigger with age. She said after a while (I'm not sure what age) a second lump developed in her right breast. She said there is not pain, but both breast are sensitive and with age, the bumps have gotten a lot bigger.
What do you think? Obviously she needs to see a doctor, so please don't just write that….

I first noticed it a couple weeks ago, since then it has gotten more pronounced. I haven't noticed any other odd symptoms, but this is bothering me. I'm 19, will be 20 in a month or so. I was on Ortho birth control for a couple months a while back. I've never had any real health problems. Never had a child. I'm overweight. My famiyl has a history of breast cancer.
It's a red spot, pretty small in the center but what makes up the most of it is a dense, veiny, colored rim. It's about the size of a dime. It isn't a zit or bite, like I originally thought. I've had it too long and there's not build up of puss or anything…
I'm just really scared, I'm going to go to the doctor but the free clinic isn't open for another week and I'm going to go crazy until then…
It doesn't itch, hurt, and my breast isn't swelled. I have cysts in my breast so figuring out what it a suspicious pump or not is pretty hard for me.
I'm worried about inflammatory breast cancer, considering I've heard a symptom of it is a red spot. I mean, breast cancer would be bad enough, but IBC is way more aggressive and quick so I'm pretty freaked out right now.

10% of women aged 40 years old who get a mamography screening for breast cancer will receive a positive result. But only 1% of women in that group actually have breast cancer. Furthermore only 80% of those that have breast cancer receive a positive result on a mamography.
What is the probability of a 40 year old woman who receives a positive result of actually having breast cancer?
