of course i am not a doctor but i have heard that a lot of times if you have surgery to remove a cancerous tumor a pieces can break off and circulate throughout the body.
Cancer cells are fairly mobile (compared to normal cells that are firmly attached to the tissues they are found in). Cancer cells can enter the blood or the lymph systems and spread to other parts of the body via those systems.
